I'm back on the horse. After months of twiddling my opposable digits while mentally urging the agents and publishers to beg for my manuscript, I've gone back to sending queries. In fact, two seconds before I started typing this entry, I completed the fifth query of the night. Needless to say, my butt hurts...mostly because I used it to type when my fingers cramped up.

It's funny how a few months can change the perspective on what you previously wrote. Though I didn't make any significant modifications to my manuscript, the synopsis and query received overhauls. The query alone was modified each time I sent it out, resulting in a cleaner copy that I can use for future submissions. I may not have followed the rules to the letter when it came to preparing these documents; however, I don't think agents and publishers to go their handbooks to verify framework. They examine the content to see if it triggers any interest. Let's hope the changes I made help out.

Another difference in this second round of submissions is where I sent my manuscript. Yes, it went to agents and publishers whose specialty is science fiction, but I also delivered it to places looking to delve into new genres. For example, my submission went out to Harlequin's digital imprint Carina Press. Science fiction for a publishing house devoted to shirtless men who sweep chiffon-wearing women off their feet? Well, Carina Press is looking for all genres right now. Plus, two of my characters go at it like bunnies; thus, a potential perfect fit.

I did one other thing to get my manuscript noticed -- and that's where you come in, my beautiful, shirtless, chiffon-wearing readers. I submitted my story to Ballot Press, which has an ongoing contest where I have the potential to win $2000 and a chance at publication. All you need to do is go to my entry, vote for my work - preferably five stars - and leave a comment. You have until March 7th to make your mark and help propel me into the publishing world. Thanks in advance.
